This is a great opportunity to see contemporary work by East Anglia’s established and popular artists. All exhibits are new to the Artworks each year and are for sale. There are also daily opportunities to meet the artists at the exhibition.
We also have the Artworks Shop selling original prints, drawings, paintings, ceramics and glassworks, plus a large selection of artists greetings cards and postcards. Coffee, tea, soft drinks and homemade cakes are available in the new Artworks cafe open throughout the exhibition.
A great favourite of the exhibition is the Mini Artworks Prize Draw; thirty mini artworks created by Artworks artists will be on display during the main exhibition and the Prize Draw tickets cost £2 each. The proceeds benefit our Artworks Schools Programme and our chosen East Anglian charity. This year, we will be supporting The Suffolk Refugee Support.
The setting for the exhibition is the spectacular thatched, late medieval Blackthorpe Barn, part of the Rougham Estate. The barn was built in c.1550 as a threshing barn on lands that formerly belonged to the Benedictine abbey at Bury St. Edmunds. The barn remained in use as such until 1985 when it received a new lease of life as an arts centre.
