it was great. They have s huge following so it was more or less busy the whole time and people do come to shop.

I absolutely love Renegade. It’s one of the best Christmas markets I’ve ever done – I sold so many things, it was constantly busy and the atmosphere was great!

Took part last year for the first time and won’t be doing it again. It was busy on Saturday, not so much on Sunday, so we made enough to cover our stall costs but nothing more. A lot of browsers rather than buyers (maybe as it’s so close to Spitafields). It is well organised and has a good selection of quality products.

Sadly Renegade was fairly quiet this year, and it didn’t help that we had the horrendous snow on the Sunday. Footfall in general was bad. I think it will be very doubtful I will do it this December.

Bad footfall, poorly organised, no advertising, hard to find due to lack of signage, only just covered costs, not worth doing

Very expensive, have to pay so many extras, no advertising, I think Renegade relied on their name so didn’t make any effort with advertisements. Most customers said they found it extremely hard to find. I didn’t cover the cost of the stall. Won’t do it again.

Not as good as previous years I think this is down to there being lots of other markets and similar events dividing crowds. I do always feel that they should do more to promote footfall though as the location has natural traffic…

This was my second year at Renegade and it definitely wasn’t as good as the previous year. From talking to other traders who have done it for more than 2 years in a row, it does sound like this market is starting to decline each year. It was once renowned for being such a great craft market that visitors would make an effort to attend but this year it just felt very empty. Fewer customers, meant less sales, and the stall fees and additional costs for table hire etc are quite pricey. I agree with other posts that Renegade seems to be relying on its former reputation and not really putting much effort into making the market great and advertising well. I am not sure if I would do this market again now unless the organisers showed signs of improving their advertising.

Very expensive considering the table is an “extra” and poorly organized. No advertising (they were posting about their LA upcoming market while we were doing the London edition). Too close to to Spitafields-Bricklane to be really something. won’t do it again.

Hard to find due to lack of signage. Surrounded by other well known markets in the area, so you would of thought the organisers would of put more effort in to promoting and directing people to the market. There were some great brands at the market but it’s a great shame they didn’t get to the footfall. It was expensive for a space and the renegade company should be embarrassed. I know that it does well in the states but it felt like they were just over in London for a quick holiday before Christmas. Never again shall we do this market.

I participated for the first time in Dec 2017 and very much doubt i will do so again. The stand cost are very expensive. The space was great and so were the stalls, it was very slow. A lot of the customers had said they found it extremely difficult to find the place. It was not sign posted well. Despite the huge following Rengegade has, they only posted a small selection of the brands that participated which i feel was unfair.

This was my second year of Renegade. Last year’s fair was far too early for a Christmas fair (first weekend of November) so though I would give it another go as this years date was more in line with other Christmas fairs. This may also have been one of the problems as they were now competing with numerous other similar fairs. First of all this fair is far too expensive (at least six times the price of other fairs I took part in) and then everything else is “extra” even the wi-fi, which just comes across as the organisers being rather greedy. The stands sizes are really weird and don’t work with the two sizes of tables that you can hire so you end up paying for space that you cannot really fully utilise. The shared spaces don’t work at all (as proved by both stands on either side of mine) where they kept changing their layout throughout the weekend to try and make it work (especially if you find yourself next to one of the large pillars). The signage to the show was appalling (going up the stairs form Ely’s Yard were some pathetic signs with a dead sprig of holly sellotaped to each, frankly rather embarrassing). On the Sunday I arrived fairly early and was talking to one of the organisers about signage and having organisers outside trying to get people into the fair and all they could say was that in the States they had thousands of people going to the fairs. We are not in the States and Renegade doesn’t have the reputation that it obviously has over there, they need to work harder to get the people through the doors. Two more points which were just frankly rather irritating – massive sign saying Rest Room (for all the money that we had paid them they could have made a sign that made sense in the UK) and the music which repeated about eight times over the course of the day. A play list that lasted the entire day without repeating is surely not too much to ask? I’m sorry to say but the whole impression I get of the Renegade organisers is just for them to make masses of money and really give very little in return. There were a lot of fantastic makers at the fair and I feel that Renegade really let us down.

This was my second year at Renegade, I was worried about costs as the fee for a stall had gone up & you have to pay for a table, wifi & chair on top. I had a good Saturday but then came the snow!! Nobody’s fault obviously but this put a lot of people off coming, so it’s hard to compare to the year before. I really like the atmosphere & quality of the sellers at the fair- I loved visiting every year, so feel very excited to now be taking part in it. It’s a very well curated show with lots of amazing talent. We also had an issue with the lighting & the organisers made sure it was sorted as quickly as possible. I would really like to sell at the fair again but it does depend on the stall cost. As a visitor I would give it 5 STARS. But I’ve given 4 as a seller just because of the costs going up & I do think it could be busier if advertised better.

This was my first year selling at Renegade, I was so excited for the potential footfall. (Every time I’d visited it was so busy in previous years) Also, other sellers that had sold before had come back so a good sign surely? Well….not quite. The Saturday was ok for me but wasn’t the amount of people I had expected. Apparently the signage outside to bring people in were terrible! Outside in Shoreditch was so busy that day but they just weren’t aware of Renegade and a couple friends that visited mentioned how hard it was to find! Pretty disappointed with the organisers that better signage couldn’t be done, especially as the fee is so expensive + extra for table / wifi / chair!!!

Then Sunday was worse. To be fair it snowed, so probably put people off leaving their houses but still! By the afternoon us stand holders were counting down the minutes to pack up! I thought renegade would be one of those markets I would come back to every year….but I’m going to have to majorly re-think this. Please don’t use the London trip as a lovely pre-Christmas trip and rely on the Renegade name to bring people in. I’m sure that works in America but not in London with so many other great markets on at the same time!

I’ve been participating a lot to the wonderful Renegade Fairs (also in USA) but I think that it will be my last time in UK… Certainly part of the poor footfall was due to the very bad weather (it was snowing the 2nd day) but iI think that they should do more to promote (the location is well known and on the lower floors of the building there was a lot of people (there are others fairs…). Unfortunately Renegade is not as well known as in the US…:( So sad because the really do have a great selection…

Having been a customer at Renegade for a few years I was excited for my first time selling, however the 2017 Christmas fair was not what we expected. The booth fee was extortionate at £450, not including all the extras such as chairs, rails, wifi. After speaking to multiple sellers it seems that it was a struggle to break even, when I expected to easily take £2000 at a popular Christmas fair in London.

I would like to note some potential reasons for the steep decline in footfall and sales that we all noticed. 1) The promotion of the event was non existent. It should have been in creative publications and online blogs, as well as Renegade’s social media. As their one UK Christmas fair they should have put more work in, but promotion was left to the sellers. 2) The signage was very poor. Even people who wanted to attend could hardly find the location. There should have been posters/signs around Shoreditch and the underground stations. Arrows on the ground, etc. 3) The walkway spaces were too vast, so shoppers couldn’t see both sides while walking down the isles. This meant they didn’t pass every table, so reduced chance of sales.

There was also very little presence of the event organisers, however setup was very easy and there was a helpful team stationed in their own booth if we had questions. This is just a side note as other fair organisers are more involved, checking up on sellers and welcoming them on arrival.

Overall it is very unlikely I will apply next year and I would urge Renegade to increase their promotion next year and/or reduce their fees dramatically.

I completely agree with the reviews below. I’ve been doing renegade London since 4 years ago. The first 2 years was absolutely amazing, the organization, signals, everything was really thoughtful resulting in a great turnover of people and really high sales in comparison to other London markets. However last year went down in all aspects quite notoriously and this year was an absolute disaster, wouldn’t recommend to any seller unless the organization takes it seriously again. My sales resulted in less than half than other years. It felt like they didn’t put much effort on it, the signs were awful, couldn’t even notice them. Friends of mine that have been coming for years couldn’t even find it! Definitely not the standard I would expect from a fair that charges such an amount of money per booth. Really disappointed.
